Warrenton Football spent this week in 7 on 7 action against St. Charles and then GAC North foes in Winfield. Joe Klostermann shared this brief from his football team’s trek to Columbia for a University of Missouri camp this month:
After five days of team camp in Warrenton, the Warriors football team traveled to Columbia to attend the Mizzou Football Contact Camp. Forty five players were able to make the trip and participate in 1 on 1, 7 on 7, and 11 on 11 scrimmages along with some coaching by the University of Missouri Football staff.
There were two practices on Thursday, three on Friday and one on Saturday. The Warriors were able to compete with larger schools from the metro area, such as Francis Howell in 11 on 11 and East St. Louis in 7 on 7, as well as some strong programs from the rest of the Missouri area, such as Lebanon and Smithville high schools.
Overall we were able to come away injury free and our athletes were able to take advantage of the time to come together as a team. We have a lot of young players and this was an excellent opportunity for them to get used to varsity size and speed. We have been going to the Mizzou team camp for over 10 years and our kids love it. The dorm lodging, cafeteria, and football facilities are top notch.
