It turns out the top football recruit in the state of Missouri’s senior class of 2014 will be staying in state after all. De Smet Jesuit OL Andy Bauer, who gave a verbal pledge to the University of Missouri after his sophomore season only to re-open his recruitment and later commit to Mississippi, released a statement on Twitter Monday announcing he would play for the Tigers.
The story was first reported by KSDK-TV/920AM’s Frank Cusumano.
Columbia Daily Tribune Mizzou beat writer David Morrison spoke with Bauer’s high school coach Pat Mahoney, who said Bauer would enroll in classes at Missouri in the spring semester.
Despite missing his senior season while recovering from hip surgery, Bauer is scheduled to participate in the ESPN/Under Armour All American Game in January. Recruits cannot sign binding letters of intent until February.
